Rachael Michaels, MD
Medical Director at Pesach Tikvah
Dr. Rachel Michaels joined Pesach Tikvah in 1998. Dr. Michaels has expertise in treating
children and adults with various behavioral health issues including depression, anxiety, OCD,
ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and autism. She did her undergraduate work at the
University of Chicago and attended medical school at the SUNY Health Science Center in
Brooklyn. She completed her psychiatry residency at Maimonides Medical Center, where she
served as the Chief Resident. Dr. Michaels has over 25 years of experience in inpatient
settings, day treatment programs, and outpatient clinics. She has expertise in women's mental
health and in the treatment of children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Andrew Kwok, MD
Medical Director of Hearts and Minds
Dr. Kwok has experience treating addiction with co-occurring psychiatric disorders. He studied medicine
at The University of Toledo College of Medicine and residency in general/adult psychiatry at Rutgers
Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Kwok is also a clinical instructor at the New York
Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Park Slope.
Alex Posell, MD
In 2013, Alexander Posell, MD graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from
Occidental College with honors in psychology; he then went on to study medicine at the
University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA) and residency in general/adult psychiatry at
SUNY Downstate. He is currently pursuing a fellowship in forensic psychiatry through New York
University, and has conducted numerous forensic interviews with asylum applicants via
Physicians for Human Rights.
At SUNY Downstate, Dr. Posell was a chief resident, co-wrote a book chapter on geriatric
psychosis with Dr. Michael Reinhardt, and published on the psychiatric effects of
hyperparathyroidism.
Debbie Edelman, MD
Dr. Edelman is Board Certified in Psychiatry. Her residency was at the Medical College of
Georgia and at SUNY Downstate. She completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
fellowship at SUNY Downstate. She has practiced at inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric
units, adult and child academic outpatient treatment clinics, emergency psychiatric treatment,
and community psychiatry.
Dr. Edelman has more than seven years of experience treating patients with depression,
anxiety, OCD, Bipolar disorder, ADHD, learning disorders, substance use disorders, PTSD, and
schizophrenia. She uses pharmacotherapy along with CBT, psychodynamic, supportive and
interpersonal therapies.
Ekaterina Osman, DO
Dr. Osman is a double board-certified physician in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as
Adult Psychiatry. Dr. Osman graduated from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and
completed her internship in Family Medicine at Beth Israel in New York, her Adult Psychiatry
residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, and her Child Psychiatry Fellowship at
NYU. In addition to working at Pesach Tikvah, Dr. Osman is also a Consult Liaison attending at
SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Martin Olanoff, MD
Dr. Martin Olanoff joined Pesach Tikvah in 2014. He was instrumental in creating Pesach
Tikvah's psychiatry services at the original Borough Park clinic. He has been practicing
psychiatry for over fifty years. He specializes in treating adults with all issues, including the
severely and persistently mentally ill. He is a graduate of Boston University Medical School. He
did his residence in Psychiatry and Family Therapy at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of
Yeshiva University, Montefiore Medical Center.
Sapir Edalati, PMHNP-DNP
Dr. Sapir Edalati, PMHNP-DNP, is a dedicated and compassionate Doctor of Psychiatric Mental
Health Nurse Practitioner, specializing in adolescent psychiatry. With a wealth of experience
and expertise, Dr. Edalati has been serving the community at Pesach Tikvah for several years,
joining the team in December 2021. Before joining Pesach Tikvah, Dr. Edalati completed a
rigorous residency program through Columbia University's Doctorate program, focusing on
outpatient adolescent psychiatry. This experience provided a solid foundation for her approach
to patient care.
David Binyaminov, PMHNP
David Binyaminov is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He joined
Pesach Tikvah in 2023. He focuses primarily on medication management. David Binyaminov
also has knowledge in supportive and person-centered psychotherapy. He specializes in
treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, and sleep issues. Prior to Pesach Tikvah, David
Binyaminov worked as a neurosurgical ICU nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital. He did his clinical
internship at Rivia Mind. He is a graduate of New York University.
