
Malka is a teenager who has faced bullying in school. She eats lunch by herself instead of with other girls, and she is not usually invited out to social events. She comes from a large family, but even at home with her siblings she has begun to withdraw. Malka has been complaining to her parents about stomach and back pain, and she has a very hard time getting up and going to school in the morning.
When Malka’s parents took her to the pediatrician to investigate her stomach and back pain, the pediatrician suggested an evaluation by a therapist. Malka’s parents took her to a therapist, and she was diagnosed with depression. Through therapy, Malka has come out of her shell and no longer complains of stomach and back pain.
Dovid recently married and soon after lost his job. His job loss triggered a bout of depression. Dovid had a hard time motivating himself to look for work. He experienced prolonged feelings of hopelessness and couldn’t sleep at night. His shalom bayis suffered. At the urging of his wife, Dovid began therapy for his depression. After a few months of treatment, Dovid is repairing his relationship with his wife and has found a new job.
Libby is a mother of five. For months she felt more and more miserable. She felt exhausted all the time, with barely enough energy to perform basic household chores.
